Empty Bowls

Empty Bowls is a participatory, fun way to raise funds for tzedakah, for charity. Potters throughout Quebec and beyond donate beautiful, hand-made bowls to the cause. The public is invited to a festive afternoon of musical performances and a soup lunch - in the new bowls that attendees purchase!

EMPTY BOWLS UPDATE

April, 2016

Thanks to a fabulous crew of volunteers, under the able direction of Paula Lehrman, Dorshei Emet's Empty Bowl`s 10th anniversary took place with musical interludes joyfully performed by Ely Bonder.

Sheila Caplan and her network of Quebec potters had their kilns fired up all winter to produce a wonderful selection of classic and whimsical new bowls for the event.

Gaby Orbach transformed the lobby into an aesthetic space and managed all details while downstairs Sima Brockstein performed miracles serving up 5 wonderful home-made soups created by committee members.

Thank you to Frances Stober for managing the publicity and social media for the event.

The event raised $2,980.00 with funds being directed to The Chanukah Food Basket enabling members of disfavoured families to celebrate the holiday with dignity.

We thank all the volunteers for their enthusiastic assistance and support  to Empty Bowls.
