Welcome to Congregation Dorshei Emet
A Transformational Community Rooted in Tradition and Celebrating Diversity
Congregation Dorshei Emet, the Reconstructionist Synagogue of Montreal, is an egalitarian, progressive community where Jewish traditions are celebrated, and innovation is welcomed.
Dorshei Emet is a dynamic, unique, and exciting shul where the services are participatory and inclusive, parties are fantastic, and the congregation is inclusive and friendly. It's an ideal place to call home. We draw large crowds to our Kabbalat Shabbat Around the World events, Purim parties, Yom Ha'atzmaut celebrations, Shabbat Shira concerts, and other festivals. We have grown and evolved since our initial days in the 1960s, when we operated more as a chavurah but have tried to keep some of the DIY flavour and willingness to try new things.
Everyone is welcomed regardless of religious background, current level of observance, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, and socio-economic status.
All of our programs and services are open to the entire community, and if you like what you see, we also invite you to join!
