Eva Echenberg
Monday, August 3, 2020 • 13 Av 5780
4:00 PM - 5:00 PMEva Echenberg will discuss her book, Walter's Welcome, the intimate story of a German-Jewish family’s flight from the Nazis to Peru. This is the story of her uncle, Walter Neisser, a larger than life figure who saved 50 members of her family, including her grandmother, siblings and mishpocheh. Eva will read excerpts from some of the many letters the family saved starting with Walter's own WWI experience, moving to prewar suffering and postwar letters of a cousin trying to reconnect after being imprisoned in Auschwitz. This is a good news story and Eva will emphasize how one person can make a huge difference.
