Yom Ha’Atzmaut
Yom Ha’Atzmaut
Yom Ha’Atzma’ut, on the 5th of Iyar, is a modern-day festival, marking the rebirth of the Jewish State in 1948. In Israel, Yom Ha’Atzma’ut is observed immediately following Yom HaZikaron, Remembrance Day for fallen soldiers, recognizing that the State of Israel could not have been established and maintained without their sacrifice. At Dorshei Emet, we honour those whose sacrifice enabled and continues to enable Israel to exist, and we celebrate Israel together through a short ceremony, festive communal meal with Israeli food, and other activities.
