Empty Bowls
Empty Bowls
Empty Bowls is a participatory, fun way to raise funds for tzedakah, for charity. Potters throughout Quebec and beyond donate beautiful, hand-made bowls to the cause. The public is invited to a festive afternoon of musical performances and a soup lunch - in the new bowls that attendees purchase!
EMPTY BOWLS UPDATE
May 2019
Our last annual event for food security and support for Dorshei Emet’s Chanukah Food Baskets was a sold out success. The committee is already looking forward to next year’s event, planning an on-site ceramic bowl workshop, diversifying the ceramics for sale and welcoming a speaker on food security during the event.
Last April beautiful bowls and cups found new owners and generated funds for a good cause, in addition in raising awareness of hunger.
“Empty Bowls” is a hunger-fighting fundraiser that brings people together to share a simple and nourishing meal of soup, bread and fruit. The vegetarian soup is served in a handmade bowl or cup donated by a renowned Quebec potter, which is yours to keep. “Empty Bowls” depends entirely on the generosity of donors, sponsors and volunteers.
The “Empty Bowls” committee is committed to insuring that next year’s event will generate even more interest in the importance of food security in Montreal and help to raise funds for our Chanukah Food Baskets.
